Ten years after learning the sport at the holiday park, Olympic archer Megan Havers is back at Haven’s Church Farm
In an exciting homecoming event, Olympic archer Megan Havers returned to the holiday park where she first picked up a bow and arrow, nearly 10 years ago, to host an exclusive archery session for Haven’s Church Farm holidaymakers.
16-year-old Megan, hailing from Leicestershire, shared her expertise and passion for the sport, providing the guests with a rare opportunity to learn from a first-class athlete. The session featured one-on-one coaching, live demonstrations and an inspirational talk, where Megan discussed her journey from learning the sport at the holiday park to taking centre stage at one of the largest sporting competitions in the world.
“We’re delighted to have Megan back at Church Farm”, said XX, XX at Church Farm. “From trying the sport for the first time nearly a decade ago here, to competing at the Olympics, her achievements are remarkable and given the fantastic feedback from the participants, we hope that she has inspired another generation to try their hand at archery”.
Megan said, “It’s brilliant to be back at the park where I first picked up a bow and arrow. I never thought that after my first archery session at Church Farm nine years ago, I’d be where I am today with the sport. I really enjoyed sharing my tips and tricks and I spotted a few budding archers in the making!”
After Megan tried archery at Church Farm, she completed a beginners' course at her local club before going on to shoot for her club, county and then country as a junior athlete in Archery GB's Pathway programme.
