  • Take a look at this image gallery showcasing the UK’s most beautiful coastlines
  • More than two thirds believe coastal views on home soil easily rival those found abroad
  • Eight in 10 say accommodation with a sea view on a UK holiday is important with 35 per cent claiming it’s a must have
  • Haven reveals image gallery showcasing some of the unexpected coastlines that can be found across their 39 parks across England, Scotland and Wales

These are some of the UK’s most breathtaking coastal views – with research revealing St Ives, Robin Hood’s Bay and Padstow are the nation’s favourites.

The image gallery shows British beauty at its finest, featuring Pwhelli, a market town known for its five mile stretch of beaches, located within the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales.

Another stunning sunset shot highlights the views found in a lesser-known area of Cornwall – Hayle – which is home to the Estuary Trail, perfect for cycling or walking.

The images come as research of 2,000 adults found the nation’s favourite coastal locations include the South Downs’ sprawling 100 miles of scenic lookouts and the Georgian seafront of Weymouth.

Also in the top 30 list were Pembrokeshire’s home of limestone cliffs Lydstep, Devon’s yachting paradise of Salcombe and the North East’s seaside town of Berwick.

The study, commissioned by Haven, found when holidaying in the UK, eight in 10 said accommodation with a sea view is important and 35 per cent claim it’s a must have.

Simon Palethorpe, CEO at Haven, who commissioned photographer Beth Squire to create the photo gallery at five of its 39 parks, said, "The photo gallery just goes to prove you don't need to go far from home to get picture postcard views and scenery.

"Haven's parks are on some of Britain's most stunning beaches and coastlines making them a great base for exploring the local area and enjoying the seaside.

"There's nothing better than starting and ending your day with a sunrise and sunset view over the sea - even more so when it's on home soil.  Brits are still so surprised by the breathtaking coastline we have in the UK."

The research also found 87 per cent said a coastal location is important to them when holidaying in the UK, with holidaymakers prepared to typically travel 159 miles from home for a break by the sea.

And 85 per cent would be willing to pay more for such a sight, with the maximum amount spent to secure a coastal view in the UK being over £550 for two people.

The top reasons for being open to paying more for a sea view were for the feeling of relaxation (60 per cent) and sense of escapism (36 per cent) it brings, with results showing being by the coast is beneficial for both mental (57 per cent) and physical (43 per cent) health.

The OnePoll.com data found more than two thirds (69 per cent) believe coastal views on home soil easily rival those found abroad.

Further reasons to holiday in the UK rather than another country were to avoid airport stress and delays (44 per cent), more flexibility with dates and duration (24 per cent) and to take pets (22 per cent).
