Haven x Highfields Leader Academy

Haven hosts work experience workshops for local school students

  • Haven continues its partnership with Blackpool-based schools Highfields Leader Academy and Montgomery Academy.
  • As part of the company’s Early Careers focus, Haven is hosting a series of practical workshops that will see students engage in chef-led cooking classes, mock interviews and career-focused talks.
  • The programme will provide local students with essential skills to support their future careers.

Haven, the UK’s leading holiday park operator, continues to strengthen its partnership with local schools, Highfields Leader Academy and Montgomery Academy, by launching work experience workshops as part of its Early Careers programme.

The partnership with Montgomery School will see Haven leaders and team at Marton Mere Holiday Park conducting mock interviews with students to help them improve their interview techniques. Students can choose between an 'Introduction to Interviews' session or a condensed version of Haven's own interview format, tailored to different experience levels. The programme also includes real-time adjustments and additional support for students with special needs, ensuring an inclusive environment.

Katherine Lavender, Learning & Development Partner at Haven, said, “We're enthusiastic about empowering young individuals in our local areas by fostering their skills and knowledge to guide them towards successful careers in the future. Our aim is to build long-lasting and impactful relationships with our local students, and maybe even welcome them back to work with us in the future.”

Montgomery Academy students can also participate in cooking classes aligned with their food technology curriculum. These classes cover a range of culinary topics, including basic cooking techniques, nutrition, and meal planning. Students work with fresh ingredients to prepare delicious and healthy dishes under the guidance of experienced Haven chefs.

Separately, Highfields Leader Academy recently welcomed Haven Operational Director Colin Archibald, who spoke to groups of students, sharing insights from his own career journey. He offered valuable tips about the world of work and hosted an informative Q&A session.

To gain insight into working at one of its Parks, Haven has partnered with Youth Employment UK to create a virtual Work Experience program.

Haven’s Virtual Work Experience Guide is available for students, teachers, and parents/guardians to explore and can be accessed on Youth Employment UK's website.
