Ghosts on the coast with Haven

Haven summons a spine-tingling surge in October guests, boasting an 11% YoY boo-st in Halloween half-term hauntings

Haven, the UK’s leading holiday park operator, is conjuring up a ‘bewitching' 7% YoY increase in holiday bookings for October 2025, alongside a ‘terrifyingly terrific’, 11% YoY spike in half-term breaks which includes Halloween itself.

Throughout the month, Halloween descends on Haven with a cauldron of creepy delights running from 10 October to 2 November.  For younger children the ‘spooktacular’ activities focus more on fun than fright to enchant even the smallest goblins, Haven’s 39 parks across the UK will offer 13 themed activities, 8 spellbinding shows complete with ghoulish grub and potions in the show venues.

Guests and owners are invited to transform their holiday homes into haunted havens and join fang-tastic fancy dress parades.  In addition, Halloween themed activities will be on offer, including:

  • Halloween Slime: Mix up gooey potions that ooze with eerie excitement.
  • Halloween Pottery Creations: Craft clay horrors and ghostly figures.
  • Halloween Make a Bear: Build your own cuddly creature of the night.
  • Spooky Nature Trails: Wander shadowy paths riddled with creepy crawlies.
  • Pumpkin Carving: Sculpt sinister smiles to light up the scene when the moon rises.

Simon Palethorpe, CEO of Haven said:

“Haven is witnessing a monstrous rise in demand for Halloween themed breaks.  More families are summoning the spirits of adventure and heading to Haven this month.”

Beyond the parks' own spectral spectacles, Haven serves as the ultimate lair for exploring the UK's most notorious haunts and unravelling bone-chilling tales. Here are a few phantom favourites:

The Slough Fort at Kent Coast, next to the village of All Hallows, is said to be haunted by a hooded apparition – perfect for ghost hunters.

Blue Dolphin and Primrose Valley (North Yorkshire).  Unearth the legends of the ‘Brave Lighthouse Keeper’, ‘The Phantom Coach’, ‘The Oyster Man of Whitby’ and the ‘Ghost of Grape Lane’ with a trip to Whitby (about 30 miles away).

Haggerston Castle (near Berwick on Tweed).  The park is notorious for its spectral residents, including a Victorian lady in the Rotunda, a child in the summer house, and a mysterious man prowling by moonlight in the Italian gardens.

But the frights don’t end at the gates – venture to nearby Bamburgh Castle for the Pink Lady, a heartbroken princess draped in a spectral pink gown who roams every seven years, eternally searching for her lost love after perishing in despair. Keep your eyes peeled for the Green Lady, clutching a ghostly bundle before vanishing when aid is offered. Other chilling tales whisper of a spectral knight clanking through the halls, a ghostly soldier standing sentinel, and eerie phenomena like disembodied whispers, phantom footsteps echoing in the night, and a bodiless hand creeping across the sand dunes. Haggerston Castle and its haunted neighbour make for a ghoulishly unforgettable adventure!
