What are 'Parks of the Future'?

Haven trialling range of new concepts bringing a new look to holiday parks

In late 2018, Haven announced it would be investing close to £100m during the winter and into 2019, trialling a number of different concepts at a number of parks which would provide additional benefits to holidaymakers and holiday home owners whilst presenting a vision for Haven for the future.

Five holiday parks from across the UK were selected for the initial trials which were Hafan y Mor (Pwllheli), Craig Tara (Ayr), Haggerston Castle (Beal) and Hopton & Seashore (Great Yarmouth).

These first developments were opened in the summer of 2019 and featured the following:

  • Craig Tara, in Ayr, opened a state-of-the-art ‘ultimate indoor activity area’, known as the ‘Lighthouse Harbour Adventure Village’, with multiple climbing walls, interactive play areas and an indoor events arena. For families with younger children, the venue also included a ‘Play Village’ at Craig Tara where kids can try their hand at becoming a little chef, fill up their baskets in the tot-friendly shop, or let their hair down on stage.
  • At Hafan y Mor in North Wales a new outdoor all-action adventure village was created known as the ‘Dragon Lake Adventure Village’, which includes segways, mini 4x4 driving experience, aerial adventure courses and much more. We also revolutionised the dining experience with the introduction of 'The Coast House' as well as the 'Cakery'.
  • Seashore Holiday Park had a renovation of its existing pool with a brand-new water park concept known as ‘The Shore Water Park’. The multi-million-pound leisure facility includes a flume tower; an aqua play area, spray jets and slides; a water confidence toddlers pool; and a 1.2m deep pool for lanes swimming and activities. Seashore also introduced in 2019 'The Coast House' and 'Cakery'.

  • Hopton Holiday Village opened a state-of-the-art entertainment arena called ‘The Marina Lounge’. The multi-functional and flexible space can transform from a spectacular events venue to an intimate live music bar
  • Haggerston Castle Holiday Park completely renovated its main complex to introduce a brand new ‘Garden Atrium’, which takes inspiration from the Eden Project roof and is designed to bring the outdoors, indoors.

All of the first developments opened in 2019 and in the autumn of that year it was announced that further developments would take place:

  • Marina Bar and Stage to be introduced to Greenacres, Lakeland and Seashore
  • Pizza Deck added to Seashore
  • Adventure Villages added to Caister-on-Sea and Golden Sands
  • Oodles Entertainment area at Craig Tara and Seashore

Due to the pandemic there weren't major developments introduced in 2021 but some smaller outdoor elements were introduced which can be read about here:
